Take a look at this Ted Talk by Designer Alastair Parvin. He presents a simple but provocative idea: What if, instead of architects creating buildings for those who can afford to commission them, regular citizens could design and build their own houses?

The concept is at the heart of WikiHouse, an "open source construction kit that means just about anyone can build a house, anywhere." Check out the full video and let us know what you think. In essence, not everyone can afford a CNC printer so it does still limit, who can play "architect." I think I need to sleep on this idea to fully understand how I feel...
